FAQ

Common questions

Which phones are compatible?

Any US-unlocked phone that supports T-Mobile bands. iPhones (XR and newer), most Samsung Galaxy models, Google Pixel, and more. eSIM works on iPhone SE (2nd gen+), iPhone XS+, Google Pixel 4+, and recent Samsung flagships. Brand-new phones from Apple, Best Buy, Amazon, or any unlocked carrier work out of the box.

Is this a good first phone plan?

Yes — this is exactly who we built it for. The $10 ʻŌlelo Starter plan gives you a real 808 number, 1GB of data on T-Mobile, and a no-contract month-to-month bill. If a teenager outgrows it, upgrade to Waena ($20 / 5GB) or Nui ($40 / 15GB) in one click. If they decide they want a different carrier, cancel any time — no fees, no commitment.

Can a parent buy this for their kid?

Yes. The account holder — the person paying the bill and on file legally — must be 18+ and a US resident. The line itself can be used by anyone in the household. Many of our customers are parents setting up a first phone for a teen: the parent signs up, the kid uses the phone, and the parent stays in control of the account, billing, and the service address.

Do you do a credit check?

No. We're prepaid, no credit pull, no SSN required. Pay with a credit or debit card and your line is active. If the card fails, service pauses until you update payment.

What number will I get?

Not yet. Today every new line gets a freshly assigned 808 Hawaii number. Number porting will be available once we add a porting-capable carrier partner — you can join the porting waitlist and we'll email you the moment it's live. For now, if keeping your existing number is a hard requirement, this product may not be the right fit yet.

What happens after my data runs out?

Speeds are throttled to 128kbps for the rest of the billing cycle — enough for messaging, maps, and email, but not video streaming. Data resets each month. Each plan's high-speed cap depends on your tier (1GB / 5GB / 15GB).

How do I get my SIM?

Choose eSIM at checkout for instant activation — we email a QR code. That's it — no waiting, no shipping.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. The $10 / $20 / $40 you see is the full monthly price. We absorb all applicable taxes and regulatory fees — Hawaii GET, federal USF contribution, 911 surcharge, TRS — into the listed price and remit them ourselves. No activation fee, no "administrative" surcharge, no taxes added on top. What you see is what you pay.

Is hotspot/tethering included?

Yes. You can use your high-speed data for hotspot. Same pool, same speed, no restrictions.

Want to bring your existing number?

We don't support number porting today — new lines get a fresh 808 number. We're working on adding a porting-capable carrier partner. Drop your email and current number and we'll email you the moment porting is live.
